Hot water coils in rooftop units are sometimes used for preheat. In a perfect world continuously flowing hot water should not be an issue; however, as we know, equipment failure can occur, often at the worst possible time.

When a failure happens, HVAC fluid coils may be exposed to freezing conditions and will rupture. This can cause costly maintenance and serious water damage to
the building.

In the winter of 2011/2012 Herman Goldner installed multiple coils on the rooftop of the Marriott Hotel of Philadelphia.

“These air handlers were a constant nuisance for the client; coils were rupturing every year. Since installing Cooney Freeze Block in 2011 we have yet to see a failure on any coils that were replaced by Herman Goldner Co., Inc. This product really does work.” – Rob Scanlan Senior Sales Engineer for Herman Goldner Co., Inc. and is the account representative for the Marriott Downtown at 1201 Market Street in Philadelphia.
